Learning to Unlearn

Learning to Unlearn

This week we are reflecting on the power of (un)learning. Brian Tracy, author and speaker, provides the following truth on the act of learning:

Learning is essential to our human existence, allowing us to evolve and grow as we learn from our environment, the people around us, and our experiences. Through the active pursuit of knowledge, our present awareness of reality broadens and transforms. The acts of learning (augmenting our understanding) and, perhaps more relevant, unlearning (challenging our previous perspective), work together in tandem, along our educational journey to lead us to extraordinary, positive changes within!

In support of the Black Lives Matter Movement, we're committed to continually learning about the complex issues and systemic injustices that our society faces, while unlearning the way systemic racism has been constructed in America's history. We invite you to join us in enhancing our collective understanding together.

We recognize that (un)learning calls for active listening and are currently embracing the phrase "I'm here to listen and learn." and we invite you to give it a try. As we all know, we humans are imperfect by nature and don't hold all of the answers. And that's okay! Our power lies in our ability to listen to others within our communities and beyond. Active and open listening can clear a path for growth and shifts in our collective consciousness and understanding. Our attitudes change when our knowledge changes.

Active (un)learning can be important and difficult work! Indulge in some kindness toward yourself too. 😊 Drink plenty of water, feel the fresh air on your skin, move around, and take rest.

We'd love to hear from you!

How are you (un)learning this week? What does the active pursuit of knowledge mean to you? How has (un)learning transformed your present awareness of reality?
