Welcome to this edition of the Weekly Circle—where we start the week with a few ideas that make us think.
This week, we’re thinking about Music. Famous Russian author Leo Tolstoy puts it best:
Music is the shorthand of emotion.
Music has been with me since day one. My dad's a singer (yeah!) and my sister sings and teaches dance (she's so good!). The power of music is infinite – it's "food for the soul", as a friend told me back in college.
And there is solid science to back it all up. It can decrease anxiety, boost your immune system and levels of dopamine (the feel-good hormone") in your brain, supercharging your motivation. Some of my closest friends I've made through our love for music. My apartment even changes from a hip-hop dance hall, a Zen sanctuary, a cafe in Cuba to a jazz club. Music is my constant. Music boosts our mood, give words to complex emotions, is our therapy, and even keeps you focused when working or meditating. I'm so grateful that music has given my life 4K Ultra HD color.
We'd love to hear from you!
What do you listen to during the week? What gets you up ready to start the day or chill out and relax?
